lineage
is world famous - His sire's line has been highlighted many times
in the American Quarter Horse Journal including the April 1991
and December 1999 issues.
Plaudit (the Thoroughbred) won the 24th Kentucky Derby defeating
the previously invincible Lieber Karl. Soon after that, Plaudit
was crossed with a big dun mare named Colorado Queen and Plaudit
(the Quarter horse) was born. At age three he was relocated to
New Mexico. For the next 10 years, this stallion was used as a
saddle mount for working cattle during the week, a polo pony on
Sunday's with an occasional match race for cash on the dusty bush
tracks which littered New Mexico.
Certain times of the year, Plaudit ran free with Waite Phillips
best band of mares. Plaudit produced a number of top quality mares
including Miss Helen, Mexicala Rose and Santa Maria. The most
famous mare, Miss Helen's first foal was Gold Mount, who produced
Maddon's Bright Eyes: the best race horse of her generation on
the quarterhorse race track earning two World Champion Running
Quarter Horse Titles.
Miss Helen also foaled
Skipper's Lad, the progenitor of the modern day dynasty of halter
horses through the Skipper W/Skipa Star lines. Miss Helen became
the cornerstone of Hank Wiescamp's breeding operation, as well
as many other of Plaudit's daughters. Plaudit's name will live
forever in the AQHA Hall of Fame - during a 28 year period, he
sired the finest line of quarter horses in the West, most say
in the World.
As you can see, Skiparoula has an incredible lineage. He is a
direct descendent of Plaudit, through Miss Helen and the Wiescamp
Breeding program that produced Skipper W, Skipa Star and of course,
SKIPAROULA.
